About Muscat airport

As part of Oman’s national development plan, the government has undertaken a $3 billion project to build two new airports in Muscat and Salalah plus a number of regional domestic airports.

The expansion of Muscat International Airport will constitute one of the largest infrastructure projects to be undertaken by the government in terms of its value and size. The project will contribute significantly to the country’s economic development and future prosperity, as well as attract a greater number of tourists, business travellers and airlines to the Sultanate of Oman.

The proposed new terminal at Muscat International Airport is expected to be completed in 2012 and have the capacity to handle 12 million passengers annually.
